QUEZON’S GAME
Time & Location
About the Event
QUEZON’S GAME sheds light on a little-known true story of WWII-era heroism: When Philippine president Manuel “Manny” Quezon rescued over one thousand Jewish refugees — as many as the famous Oskar Schindler — during a time when many nations had turned their backs. As WWII loomed and the 1930s drew to a close, desperate Jewish refugees seeking to flee the escalating atrocities of the Nazi regime found little help from countries around the world.
Raymond Bagatsing stars as the Filipino leader who was determined to fulfill his moral obligation in the face of astronomical obstacles, including his country’s struggling, US-reliant economy and his own personal battle with tuberculosis. Rachel Alejandro plays Quezon’s wife Aurora, who he famously asked in 1944, “Could I have done more?”
Once forgotten to history, QUEZON’S GAME is an incredible (and timely) excavation of a little-known yet miraculous triumph, and the story of what just one man can accomplish when defeat isn’t an option.
